MORE INFO ON DEMOS
During a demonstration, I show the whole process, starting with the raw material and ending with the finished product.  I split the fresh wood with a froe and mallet, axe out a blank, then work it first on the shaving horse with a drawknife and then on the pole-lathe to make chairlegs, childrens toys, plates and bowls.  I turn both long grain and end grain pieces and am as far as I know the only German pole-lathe turner turning nests of bowls.  All the tools I use are either old or hand forged replicas of old tools.  The pole-lathe was in use from about 800AD up to the start of modern times, if you wish I can dress in appropriate costume for your event.  Please get in touch with me about price.
